This conference is organised by the Luxembourg Department of Media, Telecommunications and Digital Policy and was carried out with partial funding from the European Union via the Structural Reform Support Programme and in cooperation with the European Commission's DG REFORM

Part 1 : Starting with the simplest design of an antenna – the dipole - the workshop offers the opportunity to be familiarized with the theory of radio magnetic waves. The reflective and directive elements will be added to the dipole step by step. The interaction of the added elements will lead to a fully functional Yagi antenna. The how and why these elements lead to an excellent gain and directiveness will lead to an intuitive understanding of this type of antenna.
Part 2: In this workshop we offer hands-on experience with microwaves. The mechanical slotted line offers a unique feedback to the user and allows him to measure the wavelength on a linear scale. Furthermore, the slotted line techniques provide information to allow calculation of a load impedance. So, the data obtained from the slotted line system will be drawn on a Smith Chart. The necessity in high frequency domain (and others) to handle with complex numbers is explained at physical level.

by Luxembourg Science CenterThis workshop intents to inform about possibilities to inject and distribute the signals of the actual PPDR network RENITA into a building. The goal of the workshop is that all public actors and building owners in the domain of building security understand the importance of a PPDR coverage and receive the necessary information to start implementation projects. The workshop also looks into the future of NG PPDR networks and the impact on inhouse solutions.
